How to Combine NID Front and Back into One PDF (Bangladesh Guide)
May 14, 2026
Every Bangladesh government portal, bank, mobile carrier, and embassy asks for the same thing - your NID front and back as a single PDF on A4. Most people end up photographing both sides, opening Microsoft Word, pasting the images, and exporting to PDF. It works, but it's slow and the result rarely fits the portal's strict size limit.
Here's how to do it in 60 seconds with PDF Studio's free NID Combine tool.
TL;DR
- Open NID Combine
- Drop your front photo, then your back photo
- Pick A4 portrait, leave labels on, and download
The output is print-ready A4, watermark-free, and accepted everywhere.
Why a dedicated tool?
Word and Photoshop both work, but they have problems:
- Misaligned scaling - your front and back end up different sizes
- Wrong margins - half the card overlaps the page edge
- Huge file size - Word exports often hit 2-3 MB, way over portal limits
NID Combine is a single-purpose tool: it knows the NID aspect ratio (the new smart card is 85.6 × 54 mm, same as a credit card), auto-centers both sides on A4, and emits a tightly-compressed PDF that's typically 100-300 KB.
Step-by-step
1. Photograph both sides
Use any phone camera. Tips for the cleanest result:
- Plain background - a wooden desk or white paper works
- No flash - direct flash creates glare on the holographic strip
- Fill the frame - get close enough that the card occupies most of the photo
You can also use a flatbed scanner if you have one - that gives the absolute best quality.
2. Open the tool
Go to NID Combine. The page shows two drop zones: Front side and Back side.
3. Drop your photos
Drag the front photo onto the left zone and the back photo onto the right. PDF Studio auto-rotates them based on EXIF data, so vertical phone shots come out correct.
4. Pick a layout
- A4 portrait - most common, vertical stacking. Accepted everywhere.
- A4 horizontal - front and back side-by-side. Good for printing both at once.
- Compact - smaller cards with more whitespace. Use if the portal wants a smaller-looking output.
Leave Add labels on if you want "Front" / "Back" headers above each card. Disable it if the portal wants the cards alone.
5. Click Combine and download
The PDF is ready instantly. Open it in any PDF reader to confirm both sides are visible and oriented correctly.
Need to shrink it further?
Some portals (BCS, BPSC, NID Wing) cap PDF uploads at 100KB. If your output is larger, run it through Compress PDF to 100KB next.
Printing the NID
If you need a printed copy (e.g. to attach to a bank form), set your printer to Actual size (not "Fit to page") so the card prints at the right physical size.
